While authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding his tragic death, it still remains unclear if foul play was involved. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the official cause of death.

According to a Facebook post from the non-profit organization Texas EquuSearch, the 42-year-old was last seen alive on the night of Feb. 22 after visiting Happy’s Irish Pub on Third Street in downtown Baton Rouge during a business trip. His wife, Amber Millard, revealed that he had traveled with a client for his construction company, Advanced Construction, which is based in Conyers, Ga.

Nathan Millard Tragically Found Dead

Surveillance footage shows Millard left the bar alone and walked to his nearby hotel, Courtyard Marriott, around 11:30 p.m., but he never returned to his room. After he failed to show up for a scheduled meeting, the client he was apparently with at the bar requested a welfare check, prompting police to get involved. Officials with Texas EquuSearch are assisting law enforcement in investigating the case.

Texas EquuSearch reported that Millard’s phone and wallet were found abandoned a few blocks away from his hotel. In addition, local news outlet WBRZ stated that authorities went around asking a homeless man who was caught on camera supposedly using Millard’s credit card at a nearby bus station. However, the man was later released. Millard’s wife informed WSB-TV that she spoke to her husband via facetime earlier in the day during a college basketball game he was attending with a client before heading to the bar.

“It’s a nightmare that I wanna wake up from,” she told the news outlet. Millard leaves behind his wife and five children, the youngest being 7 years old.
