Directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) and produced by Ridley Scott, this movie stars Keira Knightley as Loretta McLaughlin, the journalist who uncovered the Boston Strangler story. Carrie Coon is also featured in the movie as Jean Cole, Loretta’s colleague.

Following the Boston Strangler murders, Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a reporter for the Record-American newspaper, is the first journalist to make the connection. Along with her colleague and confidante Jean Cole (Carrie Coon), she is determined to investigate the story, despite the oppressive sexism that threatens to impede their progress. Despite the danger, the duo courageously continue their pursuit of the truth, risking their own lives in the process.

Knightley had quite a bit to say about playing Loretta McLaughlin, “There’s mutual respect, and there’s a mutual realization that they both want to get to the truth. This is a horrific story of the brutality of the male psyche and how disturbed and awful it can be through the eyes of two women. It’s a fast-paced story, and it’s a very tricky story to tell because there are many different twists and turns in it.”
