Well, one Maryland man allegedly made that last call to his ex-girlfriend more than 800 times in 48 hours, and now he may be facing prison time.

Yes, more than eight hundred calls in two days. Along with that, he sent hundreds of text messages, according to a press release from the US Department of Justice.

Derik Wayne Bowera

Derik Wayne Bowera, 44, was already indicted by a grand jury in Martinsburg, W.Va.., where his ex lives. Along with that, he used social media posts “to embarrass her and interfere with her livelihood,” the US Attorney’s Office of Northern West Virginia said.

“Cyberstalking is a pervasive problem that we treat very seriously in West Virginia,” said United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld in a release. “I encourage those who are being intimidated online and who suffer substantial emotional distress as a result to file a police report so that wrongdoers may be investigated and held to account.”

If convicted, Bowera faces up to five years in prison.

Moral of the story: Once you get dumped, just move on to the next and save those texts and calls and Facebook posts for someone who, you know, actually wants them.
