Brooke and Adrian Gilley were discovered with their noncustodial mother, Kristi Nicole Gilley, 36, at a Winn-Dixie grocery store. Kristi Nicole Gilley’s car came up as belonging to a fugitive while police were performing a routine tag check.

Meanwhile, the two children were turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services and will be reunited with their birth family, police said. It is believed the children were not harmed in any way and were well cared for over the past year, per reports.

They had been reported missing in Mach 2022.

According to police, Krisi Nicole Gilley was disguised at the time of her arrest, as were the two children. It has not been determined how, exactly, they were disguised.

“Both Gilley kids have been safely located out of state,” Liberty Police Department in Missouri posted in an update. “Their non-custodial mother is in custody on parental kidnapping charges out of Clay County, Missouri. Thank you to everyone who shared this post as it helped bring these children home!!!”
