Missouri Man Found Guilty of Shooting An Amazon Delivery Driver Over A Handicap Parking Spot

According to the Associated Press, St. Charles, MO resident Larry Thomlison has been convicted of first-degree assault and armed criminal action for shooting 21-year-old Jaylen Walker over an argument about a parking spot.

Details

The incident took place on March 5, 2019. Walker survived the shooting, but he was paralyzed from the waist down. Walker was operating an Amazon delivery van and he parked it in a Target lot while he completed a delivery in the area.

Court documents from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch state that Thomlison approached Walker and started an argument with him about having the van parked in the space. Thomlison attempted to take a photograph of Walker, but he pushed the phone away. The two began a physical altercation after that. As the fight ensued, Thomlison drew a firearm and shot Walker in the back.

Larry was arrested and charged. During his trial, the prosecution presented several store surveillance videos that caught the altercation on camera. They also presented jail calls, police interviews, and several other pieces of evidence. Jurors found him guilty on Monday, March 13th.

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar commented on the incident. “He showed clear reckless disregard for life. Any responsible gun owner will tell you this is not okay.”

Thomlison is scheduled for sentencing on May 1st. He is facing several years in prison.

According to social media spectators, this incident is yet another example of why American citizens are calling on government officials to establish gun control and usage laws. Gun violence has become an epidemic in our country and it’s time for action to be taken.

From mass shootings to other incidents, the misuse of firearms has led to countless deaths and injuries.

  1. This is an example of why we don’t need any more gun control laws. He was found guilty so the existing laws worked.
