Authorities have arrested Ethan Colpetzer, 30, who was a janitor at Claysburg Elementary School. He is facing several counts of possession of child pornography. The images were found on his cellphone.

It’s alleged that the janitor fostered a special interest in a young girl at the school. He began asking teachers and other staff members for the girl’s name. Colpetzer was caught taking photos of the girl in the school’s cafeteria.

The janitor began giving the young girl gifts. She then asked for the name of her secret admirer in a note. The janitor responded “Ethan.” Teachers began to suspect something because there were no students in the school that went by that name.
According to investigators, Colpetzer had been caught taking photographs of students before. In some of the photos, the 11-year-old girl was “bent over” a lunch table.
A school officer examined the janitor’s phone and discovered photographs of an unknown nude child. Once the photos were discovered, they notified the authorities. His phone was investigated further and the search unfortunately uncovered 74 additional photos of young children performing sexual acts. One of the images depicted bestiality.
Charges Filed
The janitor admitted that he saved the photographs off of the internet. He admitted to leaving the gifts and candy in the locker of the 11-year-old student. Colpetzer was arrested on March 7th. His arraignment took place at Blair County Prison. His bail was set at $100,000. He’s been charged with possessing images of child pornography and sexual abuse.
The Claysburg-Kimmel School District has released a statement saying that the janitor has been placed on leave.
“We are disturbed and disheartened by the information included in the allegations and wish to note that we have not received any further reports or other information suggesting that any Claysburg-Kimmel School District student was made subject to any form of inappropriate contact other than that which has already been reported. We share in the District Attorney’s commendation of our staff whose vigilance and prompt reporting of the matter allowed for investigation and appropriate action to be taken as quickly as possible.”
