The Internet is awesome, and it has help Tom Bleasby become an Internet sensation. The 18-year-old from Leeds, England, recently posted a video of his virtual duet alongside Jessie J, signing her new song “Flashlight.”
But how, you might ask? Did they FaceTime? Skype? Nope!
Turns out, Jessie J had recorded and posted a video of herself singing the song, leaving room for others to “join” her. She used Smule’s Sing! Karaoke app.
Tom and the pop star’s “performance” has really taken off — it’s been viewed over 9.4 million times, and by the right people. According to Teen Vogue, a producer who has worked with Beyoncé has even reached out to the teen.
“I was so overwhelmed with the kind words from everyone,” Tom told Teen Vogue. “My inbox was blowing up with messages of support. I’m truly thankful for every single person who took their time to watch the video.”
