One year later, Elton John’s tribute to the late David Bowie is still so touching and beautiful

During a recent concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, California, pop icon Elton John honored his dearly departed friend David Bowie with an instrumental tribute that his crowd adored.

Bowie passed away this week at just 69 years old from a long battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy that is nearly unmatched in the history of pop music.

At his show at the Wiltern, John performed Bowie’s signature song, “Life on Mars,” instrumentally on the piano, before running into his own hit “Rocket Man.”

Once the crowd realized what they were seeing a series of of “oohs” and “ahhs” were heard throughout the audience, as the group of fans remembered the great English singer.

“Wow,” a man in the audience was heard saying once John made the transition between songs.
