After the sudden death of her husband Frank Gifford, many expected their next sight of Kathie Lee Gifford to be that of most widows, leaving her husband’s funeral draped in black with tears in her eyes.

Thanks to the type of life her husband lived, Gifford knew that would never be the case.

On Tuesday, Gifford explained to her viewers on the “TODAY” show that she opted against a funeral for her husband, and instead chose a remembrance setting more fitting for her man.

“We did not have a service for Frank last week. We had a party,” Kathie Lee told viewers.

“Frank hated funerals. He hated boxes. He hated to be put in boxes. He hated to get in an elevator. ”

Instead of sitting around and acting somber, the Giffords and their friends decided it was time to party.

“So we played Frank Sinatra all day long and we had a party,” Gifford said.

“The only criteria was, if you were there you had to be somebody that he adored, so it kept it nice and small.”
