These are tough times for Ashley Judd, and she is pleading with the media not to make matters worse.

Judd made the request in a Wednesday essay for The New York Times. She also opened up about her ongoing grief following the shocking suicide of her mother, Naomi Judd. The title of the essay is “Ashley Judd: The Right to Keep Private Pain Private.”
In it, Ashley Judd insisted the media extend privacy to family and friends who lose a loved one to suicide. She called her mother’s death “shattering.”
Naomi Judd committed suicide in April by gunshot to the head. Shortly after Naomi Judd’s death, Wynonna and Ashley Judd honored the late matriarch with a highly publicized tribute.
“My beloved mother, Naomi Judd, who had come to believe that her mental illness would only get worse, never better, took her own life,” Judd wrote. “The trauma of discovering and then holding her laboring body haunts my nights. As my family and I continue to mourn our loss, the rampant and cruel misinformation that has spread about her death, and about our relationships with her, stalks my days.”
Ashley Judd Fearing For Even More ‘Horror’
Ashley Judd further confessed her fear about the police releasing its reports and interviews with family members to the public. About two weeks ago, the family of Naomi Judd asked a judge to keep police interviews with her relatives private.
“The horror of it will only worsen if the details surrounding her death are disclosed by the Tennessee law that generally allows police reports, including family interviews, from closed investigations to be made public,” she said.
Like her sister Ashley, Wynonna Judd admitted to having a terribly hard time dealing with the sudden death.
“That the pain of losing Mom on 4/30 to suicide is so great,” she posted on Instagram. “I often feel like I’m not ever going to be able to fully accept … that she left the way she did. This cannot be how The Judds story ends.”
