Barbara Bush Admits She Hasn’t Been Able To Watch Her Sister on ‘Today’ in Years

Barbara Bush Coyne joined her twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, as guest co-host of “Today” on Tuesday. Due to regular co-host Hoda Kotb’s recent absence from the show, the twins got to host the show together for a day.

At one point during today’s “Bush edition” of the show, Jenna asked Barbra whether she’d ever seen the show.

“Well, I’m at work usually,” said Barbara. “I’ve seen some YouTube clips.”

So not only does Barbra not watch the show, she doesn’t follow it on Instagram either. To Jenna’s chagrin.

“Okay, you need to follow us on Instagram right after this,” Jenna said.

Jenna later revealed that the pair’s parents — Laura and George W. Bush — only watched Tuesday’s episode because Barbara was joining as a guest co-host.

Fellow sisters Sara and Erin Foster joined the episode, prompting Jenna to take her sister to task.

“Barbra just told me she doesn’t watch the show,” Jenna lamented. Barbara expounded, “The timing isn’t great for my calendar!”

Despite their conflicting schedules and possible different interests in TV shows, the twins have a good relationship and are close. So close, in fact, that they recently collaborated to author a children’s book, The Superpower Sisterhood.

The former first daughters opened up about their close bond.

“I think we like all the same things,” Jenna said on the show. “We want to laugh. We want to find joy in life and whenever I feel kind of down, Barbara’s who I call,” “She’s joyful, she’s fun to be around.”

“But also, our parents did something right,” Jenna continued. “They made us make sure that we support each other and not compare ourselves to each other.”

“We are different in many ways,” Barbra added. “Our temperaments are different, but as Jenna says, we love the same things so it’s great to be around each other so it’s only additive in our lives”
