Dan Aykroyd Has Seen 4 UFOs!

The existence of UFOs, once a tin-foil hat fringe conspiracy, is now basically considered fact. Last week, NASA officially launched an independent UFO study. In May, Congress held its first hearing on the topic in over 50 years. In 2020, the Navy released three videos of unidentified aerial phenomena, as they’re called now (UAPs). And ever since, politicians and military officials have come forward with their own crazy stories.

But — unsurprisingly — Dan Aykroyd was way ahead of everyone.

Dan Aykroyd Talks to Larry King

Dan Aykroyd spoke publicly about aliens for the first time in 2010. The comedian appeared as a panelist on Larry King Live alongside two astronomers, Seth Shostak and the writer David Brin. All three men were asked to respond to the comments of Stephen Hawking, which were obtained for the show by Larry King.

Hawking believed that scientists on Earth should be looking out for primitive life in space — not intelligent life. He also said that any intelligent alien life would be far more advanced than our own, and likely reside beyond 100 light years away. And if that’s the case, we need to wait it out. “If advanced life exists, they’ll contact us,” Hawking said. “Aliens haven’t contacted us so far, except maybe in the state of Arizona.”

As each panelist responded, the conversation turned naturally to King’s own question: “Why don’t they land in L.A. and New York?” And Aykroyd’s response was emphatic.

The actor spoke erratically, mysteriously even, tripping over his words:

“They don’t land here. They only land in isolated places. They have taken people, I believe. They do have technology. Lord Hill Norton of the British Defense Staff said that he believed 23 people — 23 species are coming. Because they don’t want anything to do with us. I don’t think we’ll ever have a formal relationship, a formal contact with any alien species out there, especially after 9/11. When we broke our toys in the sandbox, if they were observing that, goodbye human race. And honestly, I don’t think they’re a mass threat, but I do believe they’re breaking the law. I’m serious, Title 18, 1202. Read the Travis Walton story.”

His rant-like response pits humans far below extra-terrestrial beings on the grand scale of cosmic life. He cites 9/11 as proof of our inferiority, saying, “we broke our toys in the sandbox.” Though it’s unclear whether his example borders into conspiracy territory — who exactly broke the toys, you may ask — the simple fact is that utter, destructive violence displayed was displayed by our species that day. And to Aykroyd, it’s enough to put off any would-by outer space allies.

He discussed that idea further in 2014 with The Sunday Times Magazine:

“They watch us. There were two white orbs over Jersey when the second tower went down on 9/11. They were on CNN for about two minutes… They never showed it again… Can you imagine what was going through their advanced minds when they saw what happened on 9/11? These humans crashing our highest evolution in aviation into our highest evolution in architecture and metallurgy, like kids wrecking toys in the sandbox. They are disgusted with us. And rightly so. Because we are a depraved, disgusting species.”

The Travis Walton Story

Another moment from Dan Aykroyd’s Larry King Live appearance highlighted the so-called “Travis Walton story.” So, who is Travis Walton?

Walton is one of the world’s most famous alleged alien abductees. He was part of a logging crew working in Arizona’s Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest on November 5, 1975, when he says a flying saucer approached their truck, hovering over the ground. Suddenly, a beam of light appeared, knocking him unconscious. The next thing he remembers, he awoke in a sterile room under observation by three short, bald creatures: aliens. He tried to fight with them but was knocked unconscious again and remembers nothing else.

Meanwhile, here on Earth, Walton was a missing person. Search teams, helicopters, and police hounds scoured the area during that time, finding nothing for five days and six hours. But then Walton reappeared on the side of the road near Herber, Arizona.

Walton published an account of his story and remains an active voice in the UFO community, although skeptics doubt his story,

Dan Aykroyd Has Seen 4 UFOs

Dan Aykroyd reunited with Larry King three years after that original interview, on Larry King Now in 2013. That’s when, in response to questions from viewers, it became clear that not only has Aykroyd himself has seen four UFOs. Experiences like that make up the bulk the 2005 documentary Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs, which you can watch in full below.

I’m a believer myself — and a Blues Brothers superfan! — but even I’ll admit that Dan Aykroyd comes across here like a crazy uncle… But if you’re interested in his rambling perspective, you might enjoy this low-key documentary.
