We now know when Baby makes her return to Kellerman’s as Dirty Dancing 2 is now official; with a release date set. Lionsgate announced this week that Jennifer Grey and company will be back in theaters on Feb. 9, 2024.

It was just over two months ago that news broke the project was a go, when the announcement was made at CinemaCon. There, the audience was shown a montage of footage from the original film and a voiceover announcing: “Jennifer Grey returns to Kellerman’s in the next chapter.”
Kellerman’s is, of course, the name of the resort where the original Dirty Dancing takes place. It is also the summer that Baby transforms before our eyes. What happens in the next session is still in the works.
Gray has previously talked about what a sequel could look like and how it could approach the passing of Patrick Swayze.
“All I can say is there is no replacing anyone who’s passed — you never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that,” Grey said to PEOPLE. “You just go for something different.”
She teased the program more recently.
The actress was on a media blitz to promote a new biography titled Out of the Corner and she told Entertainment Tonight what might have been happening in the years since we last saw her.
“Baby as an adult could find herself possibly feeling similarly in a corner again, and [have to figure out] how to get herself out of the way. I’m not really at liberty to tease much… I’m excited,” she said. “I’m excited for the challenge… To make a movie without Patrick is already an enormous challenge. It will never be that movie, and it should never try to be that movie. It will be its own movie if I have anything to do with it.”
