Moderating a political debate on live TV is not for the faint of heart.

Kate McCann, political editor for U.K.’s TalkTV, fainted on air during a debate between two Conservative party members last week.

Kate McCann fell to the floor roughly 30 minutes into the leadership debate. Producers cut the broadcast, after which viewers reportedly saw a message on their TVs.

“We’re sorry to the disruption to this program,” the message said. “We’re working hard to fix the issue and will return to normal programming soon.”

Well, not so fast. Not only did the debate never resume, it wasn’t a technical error that interrupted the debate.

Kate McCann Recalls What Really Happened After She Fainted

On Saturday, London-based The Times published a commentary in which Kate McCann revealed what really went down.

“The last thing I remember is thinking, ‘This next question is going to be the one,’” Kate McCann wrote. “And for the first time in 30 minutes of debate, allowing myself to relax. Then suddenly my body wasn’t where it was supposed to be and someone I couldn’t see was asking me my age.”

Kate McCann continued: “I couldn’t work out why anyone would need to know that in the middle of a discussion about Ukraine and I remember thinking how rude it was for either candidate to ask. Then came the creeping sense of panic as my brain started to catch up with my body, which wasn’t at the lectern facing Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, the Conservative leadership candidates, but on the floor of a television studio.”

The Times reported on Saturday that Kate McCann had returned to TV. Maybe she and Wendy Williams, who also famously fainted during a live broadcast, can strike up a long-distance friendship.
