And the next installment in the Hulu series, which may come out next summer, isn’t just bringing more laughs and mystery and murders and mayhem, either.
Only Murders in the Building is also bringing at least one new cast member, in Jesse Williams, Variety reported. Williams — who starred in Grey’s Anatomy for 12 seasons — will reportedly play a documentarian curious about a case in which the three main characters are also investigating.
Williams joins Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short on the comedic mystery drama that is both wildly hilarious and wildly successful.
Hulu green-lit Season 3 in mid-July. Filming is due to start later this year, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Season 3 Is Losing Its Mystery
In addition to Williams, the makers of the show also locked in Paul Rudd for Season 3. While Williams’ character will recur throughout the season, it’s unclear whether Rudd will be part of the main cast or mostly make appearances on the show.
Only Murders in the Building seemed to come out of nowhere in August 2021. But fans of comedy legends Martin and Short — along with fans of Gomez — devoured the 10-episode first season immediately.
In September, media outlets started reporting that Only Murders in the Building had already become the most-watched comedy in Hulu history. That same month, Hulu renewed the series for Season 2.
Only two seasons in, the makers of Only Murders in the Building claimed a cartoonishly high number of nominations: three from the Golden Globe Awards, six from the Primetime Emmy Awards, and three from the People’s Choice Awards.
In mid-August, Short and Martin proved how well their chemistry works on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
