Jessica Simpson is one of those people who always looks gorgeous no matter what. The singer, actress, and businesswoman’s body shape is fluid and she’s had three babies. Her weight has fluctuated by 100 lbs on numerous occasions. But now, back to the slender spectrum, her fans are worried about her. She took to social media the other day to address the concerns, reminding the public that she’s been sober for five years.

Jessica Simpson Lost a Lot of Weight

The public wave of concern mostly began when Simpson posted a photo of herself in a Nordstrom advertisement. She’s wearing a belted jumper, jacket, and cowgirl boots. Her legs look toned and she’s smiling, but there is something a bit odd about her facial features. It seems like her face is a bit more sunken than we’ve been used to lately, and her eyes look unusually large, both which can happen when a person has lost an unhealthy amount of weight.

Unquestionably, Jessica Simpson looks much thinner than in the photo above from 2019, when she was with her family around Christmas.

“You are so thin are you sure you are ok?” said one fan.

“Muy flaca” (Very Skinny), said another.

“Cual, muy triste” (Just like that, very sad), said a third person.

“Is it just me, or does her face look strange? She looks like she’s 50,” said a fourth.

“I think so to. But I also see it in Christina & Britney. I don’t know if they did something in their faces, that makes them look older than 40sh. It’s a shame, they have always been beautiful, they didn’t need it,” said a fifth.

“Lose too much weight it show[s] in their face,” another person chimed in.

“She looks fu#ked up allover,” someone chided.

“Like right when she hit 40 she just started looking so old. I think it is probably the weight loss because even her knees are wrinkled but also the drinking and im almost positive she’s on Zannys,” said someone else.

Her Glam Photo Led to More Heckling

The comments have continued all over Simpson’s social media posts. Of course, many fans are defending her and telling her she’s awesome and beautiful. One person made a comment on another photo that Simpson posted of herself wearing her “Goblin Glams.”

“If y’all follow Jess you know how much negative words around her weight have affected her so maybe keep your comments to yourself,” wrote a fan. “She’s living for herself. Let her live. She’s beautiful inside and out at any size. It’s like y’all forget you’re speaking to a real human with real emotions. Get some class. Jess you are so loved.”

But underneath that, the skinny comments continued.

“Your way too thin !!! I think your beautiful come on put on a few pounds,” someone said.

“You look tired,” said another.

“You look gaunt n unhealthy,” someone else said.

In another photo, Simpson appeared to have a massive upper lip, possibly from an injection. That also resulted in lots of heckling, including comments of “heroin eyes.”

Jessica Simpson Clapped Back with a Song, Reminded Everyone That She’s Sober

After enough of the concern and skinny commentary, Jessica Simpson finally clapped back. But she did it in a way that was expressive and artistic. She posted a video of herself singing. There was a lengthy caption alongside the video.

I needed to be in my studio today because this is where I ground myself and heal,” wrote an exasperated Simpson. “As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise…peoples’ comments and judgements can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘you will never be good enough’. The most important thing I have learned through the last 5yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it. I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to. I am present. I am deeply inspired. I am determined. I am honest. I care about other people. After grounding myself just now with my voice and the lyrics across my heart, I feel compassion for the opinionated hate that some people can so effortlessly just blurt out with such intensity on social media or in the media in general. We all have our days of wanting to be, look, do, and feel better. Nobody is alone with that feelin’ that I can promise you. I woke up at the same time anxious and insecure but also also angry and defensive — like some of you. I know what works for me and that is to let go and simply sing while lookin directly inside the mirror, straight in my eyes to really see and understand myself. I can connect with my heartbeat. I am stable and strong. I am home.

A little advice…live inside your dreams and move through them. Don’t give up on yourself because someone else did. Stay true to YOU. It has worked for me in this chaotic life thus far. Nothin’ and nobody will rob me of my joy. Ya might come close but it is mine to own. Yours should be too.

Simpson Opened Up About Past Struggles with Addiction in Her Memoir

Two years ago, Jessica Simpson published a memoir, Open Book, that talked about her past addictions. She was dependent on alcohol and pills and found herself drinking by 7 am. Finally, after blacking out at a Halloween party while with her family, she decided to get help.

“I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,” she wrote. She’d decided to ask for help and got sober in November of 2017.

“Giving up the alcohol was easy,” she added, according to People. “I was mad at that bottle, at how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb.”

Simpson also told the Today Show that she would often drink on-camera. There was one episode of The Ellen Show where she was drinking out of a glitter cup.

“I can’t watch it. It was a weak moment for me, and I wasn’t in the right place. I had started a spiral,” Simpson told Today.

Simpson also addressed the final Halloween event that made her want to change her life.

“I always had a glitter cup, and it was always filled to the rim with alcohol,” said Simpson.

She’d posted an adorable photo of her family dressed up (she was dressed as Willie Nelson). Simpson said that by taking the picture, it seemed like she “showed up,” but in reality, she didn’t even know who got her kids dressed up that day. She’d been drinking since 7am and blacked out that day. That was her “rock bottom” moment. The next day, she was sober.

As far as Simpson’s weight right now, it’s really none of our business. We have no idea what Simpson’s been doing. But we can hope that she’s still on the sober train and try to support her. The same goes for anyone else out there struggling with addiction.
