It’s hard to get excited about the weather in February when you live on the East Coast, but that could all change this week.

In fact, the East may see some records when it comes to warmth in this generally wintry month.

According to Fox Weather, century-old records could drop in the Eastern U.S. as temperatures rise. The fun is expected to begin Wednesday and reach the Southeast to the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic regions. It could last through the weekend, too.

Fox Weather reported this is the result of a high-pressure front that’s developing out of the Southeast, where temps could spring to the low-to-mid 80s. Parts of Florida may even hit 90 degrees — something that’s only happened three times in February since 1892.

Meanwhile, up north, Baltimore could hit 77 degrees on Thursday, nearing its all-time February record-high of 78, set way back in 1874.

Of course, when it comes to the weather in February, every dose of good news can be expected to be met with some bad.

So as temps rise in the East, the Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions are expected to be pummeled with arctic cold, high winds and snowstorms for the remainder of the week, and perhaps month.

“The coldest temperatures will be felt across the northern tier, where wind chills could drop to between 30 and 40 degrees below zero,” Fox Weather reported.
