One person in Washington will never have to worry about money again.

That’s because that person has won the $747 million Powerball prize. And yes, all of it.

The anonymous lottery player overcame some serious odds to do it, too. Monday’s winning was the first Powerball jackpot victory since Nov. 19, 2022. The long drought allowed the jackpot to grow into the ninth-largest in Powerball history and the fifth-largest in Washington.

Per NPR, this particular winner is “opting for an annuity distributed in one immediate but partial payout followed by additional payments over 29 years that increase by 5% annually.” This is opposed to a one-time cash payment of $407.2 million.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

The winning numbers were 5, 11, 22, 23, 69 and the Powerball 07. The winning ticket, worth $754.6 million, hit all six numbers.

Given the latest win, the Powerball has dropped to a mere $20 million. But who couldn’t use even that? Still, keep in mind, the odds of winning are about one in 292 million. So you probably have a better chance to get struck by lightning — twice.

No matter if someone has indeed won, which will almost definitely increase the number of players in the next one.

“Higher interest rates have allowed annuity payments to increase compared with earlier jackpots when rates were lower.” NPR wrote. “Most winners prefer the immediate cash prize.”
