DoorDash Driver Stops Suspect From Stealing Car With Child Inside

Police in California is investigating an incident where a DoorDash driver left her child in an SUV while stepping out to make a delivery — only to have someone step in and steal the vehicle.

But the woman did not give up so easily, video footage from the home’s security camera showed.

Instead, she chased down the vehicle and yelled that her child was inside. Upon learning this, the suspect stepped out of the vehicle. It continued to roll before coming to a stop. The child inside was not harmed, per KTVU 2 in San Francisco.

“When officers arrived, they learned that when a victim stepped away from their vehicle momentarily, an unknown individual entered the vehicle and proceeded to drive away. The individual stopped and exited the vehicle moments later,” the Oakland Police Department told Fox News Digital in a statement.

DoorDash also released a statement, calling it a “horrifying” incident.

“This attempted carjacking was a horrifying situation for the driver, and we are incredibly relieved that both she and her child are unharmed,” the statement read.

Police have not yet located the suspect.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” Oakland police said. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD Criminal Investigation Division at (510) 238-3326.”
