Ryan Fellows (41), driver for the hit Discovery show Street Outlaws, has passed away while filming the show. TMZ broke the news that the star was involved in a fiery crash on Sunday morning just outside Las Vegas.
Fellows was reportedly driving a gold Nissan 240z and was near the finish line when he rolled. The car caught on fire and onlookers were unable to rescue him in time. Fellows was racing another driver in what would have been the 8th of 9 races, shown at a later time on evening Discovery TV programming. The races were supposed to be shown on Street Outlaws: Fastest in America.
Fellows previously had raced for the Street Outlaws franchise, making numerous appearances on the third season and the fifth season of Street Outlaws: Memphis. He was competing for a grand prize of $100,000 when he had his fatal accident.
Discovery’s Street Outlaws official Twitter account made a statement about the accident.
“The Street Outlaws family is heartbroken by the accident that led to the tragic death of Ryan Fellows,” they wrote. “We extend our deepest sympathy to Ryan’s loved ones as they process this sudden and devastating loss.”
How can you help?
A GoFundMe has been created to help the Fellows family. The page states:
“Last night Ryan Fellows (41) passed away in a car accident.
Ryan was an avid car enthusiast and was a road “warrior” in many ways that extended to loves of basketball, cars and business in sales/advertising. He was admired for tenacity and a relentless drive to overcome the challenges before him. The only thing he loved more than these efforts and achievements were his family-his wife Liz , children Josiah (18) and Olivia (10).
The family will need help with the next steps of grief and living life after losing the heart and soul of their beautiful family.”
Fellows is survived by his wife and two children.
