In 2006, Daniel battled a brain tumor and found her makeup artistry to be an uplifting refuge.

“I spent most of my days inside and focused on art for happiness,” she wrote to ABC News. “From canvases I began working on my own face, which then led to doing a few makeup courses during the time I was unwell and working then as a makeup artist.”

After some trial and error, Daniel began to hone in on a favorite feature: lips. Her complex lip designs take hours to complete. They were the perfect distraction as her body gradually healed.

“It can be very frustrating at times, and I do feel like just throwing the idea out, but I persist and keep trying until I get it,” she explained. “Lip art brings me happiness. I find joy in it, and it definitely is an amazing stress reliever.”

The designs vary widely, including a variety of colors, glitter and studs, holographs and floral creations. Her nails are a mere accessory to her perfectly shaped, artistic lips.

When asked which design is her favorite, Daniel couldn’t choose.

“They are all special to me, as they all represent something I love, and I just hope that the joy and happiness that it brings me, brings the same to anyone else that sees them.”
