Jacob Staudenmaier needed a date for his high school prom, so he asked Emma Stone in true “La La Land” style. The aspiring filmmaker explained to ABC’s “Good Morning America” his inspiration.

“I saw ‘La La Land’ and loved it a lot,” he said. This combined with his adoration for the actress led to the now-viral promposal, sung to the tune of “Another Day of Sun.”

Unfortunately for Jacob, a statement from Emma revealed that she will be busy that day:

Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received. I can’t tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I’m in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me. Thank you. P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma.
