Simone Biles is parting ways with Aimee Boorman, her longtime coach, trainer and mentor.
Boorman has coached Simone for years at the World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas — a gym owned by Simone’s family.
The separation comes after Simone won fives medals, four gold and one bronze, at the Rio Olympics.
In a statement released to PEOPLE, Adam Biles, the gym’s general manager, confirmed that Boorman will no longer be Simone’s coach.
“Aimee no longer works with us at this time. Her family has moved to Florida so that her husband could pursue a job opportunity that he was offered,” Adam said.
Boorman will also pursue another career opportunity with her move to Florida. She will join EVO Athletics in Sarasota, Florida, as a staff member.
As for their future relationship, Boorman said that she and Simone will always be close.
“We were both sad, but [Simone] understands that life moves on and she knows that if she plans to continue in gymnastics… I will always be willing to coach her. I will be there as a mentor,” she said.
At this time, Simone has not released a statement saying who will replace Boorman as her coach.
