Ariel Winter Latest Pilot Not Picked Up At NBC

Actress and producer Ariel Winter’s latest pilot, Hungry, is officially shelved before getting a chance to air. The decision by NBC comes with a wave of comedy and drama cancellations.

Hungry was initially co-starring Demi Lovato, but she announced in March that she was leaving the show. At the time, Lovato was going to continue as a producer on the show. Lovato’s role was replaced by Ariel Winter, and the show was set to premiere this coming Fall.

But it seems like no one may be able to see the show at all anymore. NBC officially axed the show along with Kenan, The Endgame, and Mr. Mayor, all which had low viewership.

Hungry was about a group of people with food issues helping each other navigate through life.

But it seems like Ariel Winter might not be too bummed about the cancellation. We can’t say that for sure, but she reportedly doesn’t like the LA life. She told Modern Family costar and host of the Quitters podcast, Julie Bowen, that she’s tired of the paparazzi invading her space.

“I don’t like pictures of me when I haven’t signed up for pictures of me. I don’t like feeling watched… I’ve always just wanted to live a very, very normal life, just have a normal existence.”

After enough people kept asking her why she didn’t leave the city if she hated it so much, she finally decided “Why not.” So, she and her boyfriend left LA and moved somewhere private with their dogs.

When Ariel left, however, she was still planning on finishing the Hungry series and seeing it through, according to People.

She definitely seemed happy to be given the opportunity to be on the show when she was chosen to replace Lovato. Ariel posted this to Instagram:

“I am SO EXCITED to join the ‘Hungry’ fam…  I love this show and everyone involved so I couldn’t be happier or more ready to get to work… I want to say a special thank you to the beyond lovely @jeffgreenbergcd for championing me and giving me the opportunity to be included in something special once again..  Thank you Jeff & Allen, the whole Hungry team, @nbc and my team. I’m just filled with gratitude.”

Bummer. The show probably would have been interesting. Who knows, another network might still pick the show up. But at this point, it’s cancelled.
