Graduation day was even more special for a DC police officer when he surprised his girlfriend by doing this Facebook Screenshot

Graduation day became even more memorable for a a new D.C. police officer and his girlfriend when they celebrated another unexpected occasion.

Josh Jarvie completed his training at the Metropolitan Police Department Academy and attended his graduation ceremony on October 9. Jarvie asked his girlfriend, Shana Maschack, to pin his badge. But she didn’t know what was coming next.

After Shana pinned the badge on his uniform, Jarvie took both her hands, dropped down on one knee, took out a ring and then asked her to marry him.

He even designed the ring himself!

Shana was shocked and says all of Josh’s officers of the academy and his fellow graduates helped him plan the entire thing.

“It took me a minute to understand what was going on, and the officers that were standing behind us asked if I was going to say yes because I was in such shock I couldn’t say anything,” Shana told FOX 5.”I immediately said yes and they yelled she said yes and everyone stood up and cheered. It was perfect!”

The couple is originally from Pennsylvania but Maschak tells Fox5 they moved to Maryland so Josh could become a police officer. She also says they’ve been dating for the past two years.

They are planning a September 2017 wedding.
