New mom Hoda Kotb can’t get enough of her baby girl, Haley Joy Kotb!

On Tuesday, the “TODAY” anchor revealed that she adopted a newborn baby girl. Kotb made an appearance in the fourth hour of the show to share the details with her coworkers and fans.

Kotb explained to co-anchors Kathie Lee Gifford and Jenna Bush Hager that the inspiration came from Halley’s comet, which can be seen from Earth every 75 or 76 years.

“It was one of those things. I just picture her sailing through the sky,” Kotb said.

As for the middle name, Kotb revealed “Joy” was in honor of the emotions she and boyfriend Joel Schiffman feel for their baby girl.

“She brings us joy,” Kotb said. “She’s got a beautiful way about her.”

Shortly after news of the new baby made headlines, Kotb shared more of her joyful feelings on Instagram.

“And then my soul saw you and it kind of went, ‘oh there you are. I’ve been looking for you,'” the image reads with a photo of a small baby’s hand wrapped around an adult’s finger.

Congratulations to the happy family!
