It’ll only take a second to understand why they call this arm wrestling champ “Popeye”

Jeff Dabe has had huge hands and forearms all of his life and he still doesn’t know why. Numerous doctor’s visits and theories of gigantism or elephantiasis have come up empty for the 52 year old.

But instead of dwelling on why, Dabe has used his unique physique in arm wrestling and has earned himself the nickname “Popeye” along the way.

“I’ve been to a lot of different doctors, and they’ve never been able to give me a straight answer,” Dabe told Caters News. “I was just blessed with it, I guess.”

“Popeye the Armwrestler Man” put his wrestling career on hold after an injury in 1986 but started competing again in 2012.

Dabe, a heavy equipment operator by trade, thought he was too old to compete but he was immediately successful and won a tournament at a local bar.

Today, Dabe competes in the World Armwrestling League. On the website, he is listed as 5’9, 250. Below is a screenshot of his profile.

When Dabe isn’t armwrestling he lives at home on a farm in Stacy, Minnesota with his wife and stepson.
