The Paris limo driver who was one of the last people to see Kim Kardashian West prior to her robbery is now a free man.
According to TMZ, Michael Madar was arrested, then released from custody with no criminal charges. The company that hired him, UNIC Worldpass, maintains his innocence and told the tabloid that Madar was arrested “for testimony purposes” only. They insist he had nothing to do with the incident.
A French newspaper, Le Monde, was one of the first to speculate that the robbery could have been an inside job, which reportedly led investigators to arrest Madar.
In October 2016, Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint after two masked men entered her Paris hotel room. They reportedly tied her up and put her in the bathroom while they ransacked her room. The thieves took off with more than $10 million worth of jewelry, as well as her purse, cell phones and case.
A total of 17 suspects have been taken into custody in the months since the incident.
