Lady Gaga May Be Harley Quinn In a More Musical ‘Joker 2’

The Joker has a sequel and this time the supervillain will have a partner in crime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gaga is evidently in talks to costar opposite Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn. Writers of Joker: Folie à deux, Todd Phillips and Scott Silver, have teased a picture of the script but it’s not yet set in stone that Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn.

The term “Folie à deux” stands for a medical condition involving shared psychosis. It most commonly occurs between two people in a close relationship of some kind. Hence, many assume that Joker 2’s plot will have something to do with the Joker’s and Harley’s relationship, and a shared psychosis perhaps leading them down the villain rabbit hole.

If Gaga does indeed enter the saga as Harley Quinn, it’s been noted that it would be a Harley Quinn of a different DC universe than previous incarnations. Harley Quinn’s been played by Margot Robbie and HBO’s animated version has been voiced by Kaley Cuoco.

The story behind Harley Quinn is that she is Joker’s psychiatrist in the Arkham Asylum. She eventually falls in love with Joker and becomes his sidekick.

Lady Gaga certainly has similar enough features to previous embodiments of Harley Quinn to visually play the part. What’s more, Hollywood Reporter writes that sources say Joker 2: Folie à deux will also be a musical.

We all know Lada Gaga can sing. And Joaquin Phoenix played Johnny Cash in Walk the Line, featuring his own voice and guitar skills.

Further, Lady Gaga once starred in the 2018 film A Star is Born, alongside actor Bradley Cooper, Joker producer. That film was produced by Joker 2 writer Todd Phillips. So, the gang seems to already know they can work together and get along, which makes Gaga seem like more of a reality.
