A medical fight that is bigger than the game of football may finally be over for an NFL player and his daughter.
Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still took to Instagram this week to make the announcement that doctors saw no signs of active cancer in his daughter.
NBC Sports says the family is still waiting for the results of an MRI and a bone biopsy and that Still’s daughter Leah will still need a stem cell transplant to help rebuild her immune system.
Leah was diagnosed last year with Stage4 neuroblastoma. Still and his daughter became national news when he was re-added to the Bengals’ roster after being cut, so the team could provide health care for Leah and her treatments, ESPN reported.
Despite being assigned to the practice squad, Still ended up playing 12 games last year after being activated to the 53-man roster in Week 2.
Still is a restricted free agent this year, and is considering a deal to stay with the Bengals for one year worth $1.54 million, according to ESPN.
