Sometimes extended family can cause unwanted publicity for famous families. Prince Harry is getting a taste of that after his actress girlfriend’s half-brother was arrested after allegedly holding a gun to his girlfriend’s head following a drunken argument.

According to the Daily Mail, Thomas Markle Jr. — whose half-sister is Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s girlfriend — was arrested Thursday at the home he shares with his girlfriend of two months, Darlene Blount, in Grants Pass, Ore.
The 50-year-old Markle Jr., who shares the same father as his half-sister, allegedly got violent after an argument, according to the police report.

“In his drunken state Markle grabbed a gun and pressed it to Blount’s head in an attempt to get her to leave,” the police report states. Blount, the report states, called the police after she locked herself in the bathroom trying to flee Markle.
He was charged with menacing, pointing a firearm at another person, and unlawful use of a weapon, according to police records.
Markle’s arrest will not only likely prove a bit embarrassing for Meghan, who stars in the legal drama “Suits,” Â but it could also raise questions in and around the Royal family about her suitability for Prince Harry, according to the Daily Mail. Their relationship has been described as being quite serious. According to the Daily Mail, she has visited Harry in London at least twice, stayed Kensington Palace and has met Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Markle’s ex-wife, Tracy Dooley, whom Markle called at 3 a.m. to bail him out, said Tracy said: “I don’t want this to be embarrassing for Meghan. Tom has had a little fame and publicity since Meghan started dating Prince Harry. He wants what’s best for her. They used to be very close, but there has been some separation over the years. The last thing he would want to do is to hurt her.”
The Daily Mail reported that Tracy is a recovering alcoholic and she said her ex-husband also has alcohol issues. They were married for 11 years before getting divorced in 2001.
“When he called, he sounded very sad and asked if I would help to get him out of jail,” she said. “I hope this incident helps him get the help he needs to deal with alcohol issues he might have.”
