Queen Elizabeth’s Health Appears To Be Taking Turn For The Worse

There has been ongoing speculation as to how much longer Queen Elizabeth II will hold her title as head monarch. Her royal aids recently confided about the 96-year-old icon. She has had ‘good and less good days,’ as reported by The Daily Mail. Queen Elizabeth’s health has become a major point of concern as we see less of her and more of Prince Charles.

Queen Elizabeth was spotted attending The Royal Windsor Horse Show twice recently. The events were part of her Platinum Jubilee.

But she also was absent from the annual State Opening of Parliament, where she was supposed to give her speech. Instead, her son Prince Charles read her speech aloud. Meanwhile, her royal crown was sitting on a table in front of him.

The absence has led to questions about her health and how much longer the Queen will remain in her position. There are also questions about if Prince Charles, the heir-apparent, will be the next King of England.

An official statement from Buckingham Palace broke the news of the Queen’s anticipated absence:

“The Queen continues to experience episodic mobility problems, and in consultation with her doctors has reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow. At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales will read The Queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf, with The Duke of Cambridge also in attendance.”

More recently, the same spokesperson, Omid Scobie, said, “The Queen has earned every right to conserve her energy for celebratory moments that the nation can enjoy alongside her. Now is the time for Prince Charles to do the heavy lifting.”

Omid recently wrote an article for Yahoo News where he details Queen Elizabeth’s health and her efforts despite it all. He notes that she has always believed in the mantra, “We have to be seen to be believed.” He says her need for rest is also well-deserved. Queen Elizabeth II has made incredible efforts to remain visible during her reign especially during her health issues.

Queen Elizabeth II is expected to attend one more Platinum Jubilee event in June. However, we can certainly expect to see less of her as Prince Charles steps into the spotlight.
