Galveston, Texas, police officer Gregory Parris has made plenty of traffic stops in his day, but the one he made on Monday was unlike any other.

Thanks to the Galveston Police Department, Parris was able to stage a marriage proposal that his girlfriend Sara Wolff won’t ever forget.

It all started when an officer pulled Wolff over, telling her she had a broken tail light and several outstanding warrants, then asked her to get out of the car. The officer did such a good job selling the situation that Wolff was brought to tears out of fear that she was actually in trouble.

Shortly thereafter, a lieutenant showed up and radioed Parris to make his move.

“He said ‘do you want her in handcuffs?’, and I said ‘ no don’t put her in handcuffs’,” Parris told KHOU.

That’s when Parris arrived on the scene, got out of his squad car, and popped the big question.

“I can’t imagine being proposed to any better than that,” Wolff said. “It was perfect for us.”

The wedding is set for July 6.
