“Today” publicly addressed Billy Bush’s official departure from NBC Tuesday morning.

“NBC News announced last night that Billy Bush would be leaving the ‘Today’ show effective immediately, noting that he was a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family,” show co-host Matt Lauer began. “A statement Billy released separately last night read in part, ‘I look forward toward what lies ahead.’ Of course, all of us here at ‘Today’ wish Billy the very best.”

As Rare previously reported, Bush reportedly felt like a “scapegoat” following a leaked tape that featured lewd comments he made with Donald Trump during a 2005 taping of “Access Hollywood.” He felt that his dismissal was simply for PR reasons.

However, Bush and NBC eventually reached a financial agreement in his contract. According to multiple news outlets, Bush is happy with the final number, but it will remain confidential.
