Popular country artist Shania Twain is a name everyone knows, but her husband of 10 years seems to fall into the background. What you may not know is the country music legend fell in love with her husband after an unexpected situation unfolded with her ex-husband!
Shania Twain is a Grammy Award-winning country singer and songwriter. Her hits like Feel Like A Woman, You’re Still The One, and That Don’t Impress Me Much are beloved anthems for women everywhere! Born in Canada, the star broke onto the country music scene with her hit record The Woman in Me. She would follow it up with Come on Over, the album that made her a household name. She would go on to sell over 100 million records, making her the best-selling female country artist of all time! She even landed herself a Las Vegas residency. While her career was thriving, her personal life took an unexpected turn.
Twain’s first husband was producer Robert John Lange, otherwise known as “the Mutt”. The couple met after working together and married in 1993. The relationship lasted 14 years until Robert John “Mutt” Lange did the unthinkable. He began an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, her then best friend and personal assistant. What a betrayal! This began her unconventional love story with Swiss Nestlé business executive, Frédéric Thiébaud.
Marie-Anne Thiébaud was married to Frédéric Thiébaud. Having experienced the same unbelievable heartbreak, the country star and Frédéric grew to be close friends. It was nice to have someone to experience the heartbreak with, I’m sure. She shared with AARP The Magazine, “It was twisted, but so beautifully twisted.” Once Twain divorced Lange and the Thiébaud marriage had come to a close, the pair officially became a couple!
Their Blended Family
The pair do not share any children together, but each has one from their previous marriages. Frédéric Thiébaud has a daughter, Johanna, who is a year older than Twain’s son. Twain’s son Eja is 19 years old and looks like his mama! He shares career dreams with her as well, hoping to become a musician. Born in Switzerland, he just recently bought a home in Los Angeles.
Years later, the couple seems to be happy and thriving, even gushing about how being forced into quarantine together during the pandemic has brought them closer on social media! What a happy ending to a sad story!
