There will be toasting and roasting the best in country, thanks to these ACM Awards co-hosts

It’s award show time and, of course, we adore seeing the artists all dressed up looking their best, and we truly love seeing them receive these rewards after working so hard to bring us great shows and music. But, let’s be honest. Watching award show hosts dig and take jabs at their peers is one of our favorite parts.

Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley are absolutely two of the nicest guys in country music, but even they can’t resist a little good-natured teasing when they take the stage at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards. But they admit, there’s a bit of a strategy behind deciding who will be a target and exactly how far they can go with their jabs!

When the fellas were asked about who might fall victim to some ACM barbs, Luke and Dierks were a little tight-lipped. “There’s a few we can pick on out there,” Dierks said.

But then Luke thoughtfully explained, “We started singling some out, but then it becomes the game of who can handle it. And then you start dissecting where they’re at in their life.”

Dierks quickly added, “How far they live from your house because we all live 20 minutes from each other.”

Obviously, the co-hosts were implying that if they got too rough in their opening monologue, there could be retaliation, but again we say, it’s all in good fun. The country music community is pretty tight, so we don’t expect any physical abuse.

The ACM Awards broadcast live from Las Vegas at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 2, on CBS.
