Country music superstars Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban seem to have a close kinship. Not only do they both have ties to the former reality sing-off show, “American Idol,” but they also share an incredible duet called “The Fighter.”
The pals recently traveled to New Zealand and Australia to perform the powerful track in front of large audiences, as part of Keith’s Ripcord World Tour.
During her trip Down Under, Carrie spoke with Studio 10’s Angela Bishop to talk about how perfect everything lined up for her and Keith to be able to put out the song that appears on Keith’s “Ripcord” album.
“There’s so many things that kind of have to line up for a duet to actually happen,” said Carrie, “You have to love the song, and it has to just be great timing for both of you as far as where you are in your album cycle and all that. It was like everything just lined up perfectly.”
Despite being included on “The Fighter,” Carrie jokes that she once worried that she would lose her part in the song to Keith’s wife, Nicole Kidman. Fans may recall the epic front seat duet that Keith and Nicole did earlier this year, where they serenaded each other with “The Fighter” and added in a few dance moves. It’s that duet that Carrie says made her nervous.
“I kind of got worried that I was going to be replaced,” she laughed, before adding, “It was adorable, but I was like, ‘How can [Nicole] have no makeup on and still be perfect?”
Oh Carrie, you’re just as gorgeous!
