And, one of those young singers is none other than 15-year-old Brennley Brown.

The talented competitor, whom coach Gwen Stefani stole from Blake Shelton in the battle rounds, put a remarkable spin on Patty Griffin’s self-penned song, “Up to the Mountain (MLK Song).” Kelly Clarkson also previously recorded the Gospel-tinged ballad.

When it came time to perform, Brennley took center stage in a sparkly mini-skirt and a pair of cowgirl boots. She immediately showcased her incredible vocal strength by belting out the big notes with her soft, angelic pipes. During her impassioned performance, an impressed Alicia Keys couldn’t help but repeat saying “What?” out loud.

14-year-old Aaliyah Rose, whom also gave a stellar performance, rendered Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” A highlight of her rendition was her unique vibrato that earned praise from coach Blake Shelton.

“Aaliyah, you just don’t sound like anybody else in the world. You have the slowest vibrato I have ever heard in my life,” he said, adding, “Brennley, you were doing what you were born to do – no question about it. It still hurts me to see you on somebody else’s team.”

Coach Adam Levine added, “Brennley, you gave a Grammy performance, and you’re 15, which is just freakish. And, Aaliyah, you’re almost there. And, I think that one year might be the difference for you.”

As for Alicia, she gave props to Aaliyah for her vocal range and said what Brennley delivered through the song was impactful.

Gwen, who was obviously devastated, had no choice but to base her decision on that one knockout round. She announced Brennley as the winner. Though Brennley came out victorious, Aaliyah ended up with some great news, too. Blake hit his buzzer and stole her for his team.

Both singers will now advance to the next phase of the competition — the live shows. “The Voice” airs every Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
