Luke Bryan is known to get a little sexy occasionally, but it’s especially true on his new single “Strip It Down.” So it may come as a bit of a surprise that the sultry anthem was actually written in the most routine of places.
“Ross (Copperman) and Jon (Nite) rode out to the house and out to the farm and I hadn’t written in my guest home – I have a little songwriting area out there,” Bryan recalls during a recent segment of “How I Wrote That Song” before his performance and appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” “We kind of huddled up in there one evening. Ross started playing this melody on the piano that he had been working on. All of a sudden, it started sounding all sexy and something I had never done before.”
And it worked.
“Strip It Down” is just one of the many memorable songs on Bryan’s new album “Kill the Lights,” which reached the number one spot this week on both the Billboard Top 200 and the Top Country Albums chart this week. This impressive showing marks Bryan’s third consecutive time debuting an album at the number one spot.
Bryan also joined music giants such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar as having the top three largest album debuts so far this year.
