Former Steel Magnolia’s Meghan Linsey just might have secured her fate as the winner of “The Voice” with a performance during the Season 8 semi-finals on the May 11 episode that left everyone watching breathless.
Dedicating the song to her adopted hometown of Nashville, the blonde songstress belted out “Tennessee Whiskey,” which was originally recorded by David Allen Coe and remade two years later by the legendary George Jones. Yet, Linsey’s version seemed to stay true to Chris Stapleton’s version on his album “Traveller.”
“I can’t even contain myself right now because I know what just happened,” Shelton gushed after Linsey’s performance. “That was so special. You engaged all the country music fans out there across the country, and you’ve already engaged all the new fans that you’ve made through your journey on the show. That is, by far, your most important performance on this show so far.”
Of course, Linsey also showed off a bit more of her soulful side later in the show with her rendition of Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One,” which was picked specifically for her by her “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton.
