There’s a reason that George Strait is referred to as the King of Country Music. George has racked up a record 60 No. 1 hits, and it would be hard to find any country music lover who doesn’t have at least one of those hits on their list of favorites.

But even George messes up once in a while.

During a special Facebook Live Q&A on Feb. 18, Kacey Musgraves interviewed the country superstar and one of the questions was if King George had ever passed on recording a song that later went on to be a hit for someone else. “The biggest one was probably ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ that Dean Dillon wrote and I think it’s up for Song of the Year this year at the ACMs,” George revealed. “Chris Stapleton just nailed it.”

If you didn’t know, “Tennessee Whiskey” was also recorded by George Jones, David Allan Coe and Meghan Linsey. George knows.

The handsome cowboy also talked horses with Kacey who just got her own pony, Mismo. “I don’t rope anymore, I quit that. I still ride occasionally,” he admitted.

When Kacey asked how many he had and if there was a favorite, George chuckled and said, “I have too many. They’re semi-retired like me now. My favorite horse that I used to ride mostly at the roping is a horse called ‘Joker.’ A little sorrel horse, great horse. I got him when he was a 5-year-old and he’s about 25 now.”
