Country music superstar Toby Keith has long invited members of the military up on stage with him.
But this time, it just felt different.
Because during his July 10 show, it got a whole lot more emotional.
Maybe it was the music playing in the background or the old men welcomed to the stage. Maybe it was the veteran in the wheelchair proudly raising his flag or the young man coming to the aid of the older woman making her way up to the stage.
Maybe it was the handshakes or hugs, the high fives or head pats from one of country music’s most iconic figures.
Or maybe it was the fact that the service members just kept coming and coming…and coming.
Whatever it is that will touch you in this video, it proves once again the power of country music to unite us as a nation.
“Thank you for our freedom,” Keith was heard saying in the midst of singing his patriotic-heavy hits such as “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” and “American Soldier” as he was surrounded by nearly 100 members of all forms of our country’s military.
