We would give ANYTHING…N-E-Thing to be in New York City on March 4. That’s when New York City holds their annual Salute to Texas Independence Day and the hottest country stars from Texas hit the Big Apple to celebrate the Lone Star state.

Now, a quick history lesson – Texas Independence Day marks when Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836. Nine years later, the Republic of Texas was annexed into the United States. The event is actually celebrated all over the country, New York City just seems to be the most ironic.

But, perhaps not! This is the 9th annual Salute to Texas Independence Day, and if you’ve never been to NYC, those folks do love to party, much like our Texas brethren. And a party is what they’re going to get! It’s a virtual buffet of the best in Texas.

Randy Rogers Band, a favorite band of George Strait, will headline the concert at Terminal 5 with their good pals, Josh Abbott Band, offering them direct support. Other Texas greats like the Casey Donahew Band, Stoney LaRue and William Clark Green will also be performing. It’s going to be a night of fiddles and fun, fo’ sho’!

Randy and his band are currently riding high on the success of back-to-back album releases last year, “Nothing Shines Like Neon” and “Watch This” with his buddy Wade Bowen, and his newest single, “Tequila Eyes.” Josh Abbott and his band just appeared on “Conan” and will hit the road for the “Live It While You Got It” Tour this spring.

Oh, if you have Texas-related ink on your body or wear a shirt with a Texas college logo, you’ll get a free drink ticket at the event. Not sure if they’ll have Lone Star Beer or Shiner Bock, but we’re betting Tito’s will be available.

Time to get that yellow rose tattoo!
