While there have been countless versions of the song done by countless amazing artists, there is something about the way that Johnny Cash could sing the gospel anthem that sets his version apart.

Released in 1975 as part of his “Sings Precious Memories” album, Johnny’s voice shined on the “Amazing Grace” cut and was one of the many spiritual performances Johnny recorded throughout the years. Other spiritual albums he showcased his undeniable voice on included “Hymns by Johnny Cash,” “Hymns from the Heart,” “The Holy Land” and “Believe in Him.”

And luckily for all of us, while Johnny is not with us here on Earth anymore, he is with us thanks to his seemingly never ending catalog of music. Earlier this month, Johnny’s historic “Koncert v Praze (In Prague-Live)” was released on CD. The concert was a history maker for the country legend back April 1978, as it was the first time any major American country or popular music artist performed behind the Iron Curtain.
