Miranda Lambert’s lifelong obsession with Merle Haggard is still going strong

The country music world lost one of its true guiding lights last year with the death of Merle Haggard. His honest approach to songwriting inspired many of today’s top stars, including Miranda Lambert.

For proof, just check out her spot-on cover of Merle’s classic hit “The Bottle Let Me Down” from the All for the Hall concert in 2010. It’s clear Miranda has been singing this song all her life.

Now, Miranda is joining her fellow country stars Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Loretta Lynn, Kacey Musgraves and more for a big Merle Haggard tribute concert. Sing Me Back Home: The Music of Merle Haggard will take place April 6 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Other stars on the bill include Alison Krauss, Ronnie Dunn, Jamey Johnson, John Anderson, Hank Williams Jr. and Merle’s son, Ben Haggard. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 3 through Ticketmaster.
