The country music world lost one of its true guiding lights last year with the death of Merle Haggard. His honest approach to songwriting inspired many of today’s top stars, including Miranda Lambert.

For proof, just check out her spot-on cover of Merle’s classic hit “The Bottle Let Me Down” from the All for the Hall concert in 2010. It’s clear Miranda has been singing this song all her life.
