To capture the attention of 60,000 fans sweating in a relentless heat hovering over a stadium is a feat.

Capturing that attention with just your voice and your guitar?

That is near impossible.

But Randy Houser did it back on June 12 during a stirring performance of his top-five hit “Like a Cowboy” at LP Field in Nashville during the CMA Music Festival. Because while country powerhouses such as Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line took to the stage with splashy pyrotechnics and sometimes ear-shattering sets, Houser had the confidence to step up, hush his band and proceed with a rendition of his hit song that everyone in attendance won’t soon forget.

“I love my job y’all,” he yelled as the crowd sung back the lyrics of the ballad to him.

It was a goose bump-worthy moment for Houser, who has often lived slightly under the radar of country music’s elite. He reminded us all that one of country’s most skilled vocalists has been here the whole darn time.

Houser is now set to take that career momentum with him as he rolls on as an opener on Luke Bryan’s Kick the Dust Up Tour, which will play yet another stadium June 20 in Minneapolis.
