Shania Twain expects to release a brand-new single in March with a full album to follow in May. That’s just in time for summer, but this Shania album won’t exactly be suited for your next party at the beach.

Unlike her uptempo ’90s anthems such as “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” Shania’s new album will be a much more introspective affair. The inspiration for many of the songs stems from her divorce from her husband and former producer, Mutt Lange. One song in particular, titled “Who’s Gonna Be Your Girl?,” describes the feelings Shania felt knowing her then-husband was in love with another woman.

She tells “Rolling Stone,” “It’s about feeling unappreciated and knowing that you are secondary. Having to live with someone that has different priorities and accepting that you’re not the most important thing in a person’s life.”

Obviously, Shania worked with different producers this time around, and she didn’t want them thinking they were going to make an updated version of the albums she made with Mutt.

“I told anyone getting involved musically to forget about my other records,” she says. “I didn’t want it to be related to Mutt’s productions at all. I wanted a more organic approach. I was reflecting on the darkness.”

The new album has no title yet. We’ll keep you posted when Shania releases the new music.
