And it’s this feisty side that he’s been showing off as of late amongst a bunch of criticism surrounding his planned performance at one of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration events. Set to play a concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 19 alongside fellow performers Lee Greenwood, 3 Doors Down, The Piano Guys and the Frontman of Country, Toby was recently forced to make a statement defending his appearance at the “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration.”

“I don’t apologize for performing for our country or military,” Toby said in a recent statement to “Entertainment Weekly.” “I performed at events for previous presidents [George W.] Bush and [Barack] Obama and over 200 shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the USO.”
Toby is just one of a handful of country artists set to play a part in inauguration ceremonies, including Big+Rich and Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox. And much like his country counterparts, his support of this country’s military speaks volumes about how he feels not about politics or political parties, but how he loves this country of his.
