Keith Urban loves performing his music anywhere he takes the stage, but there’s just something magical about singing the right song on his favorite stage of all, the Grand Ole Opry.

That’s the kind of magic that happened when Keith first sang his latest No.1 hit, “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” at the Opry.

In this Rare Country exclusive backstage clip from the Opry, Keith says, “It felt great playing this song tonight. It’s always great playing the Opry because it’s such a hallowed stage. You’re at the Opry. You’re playing at the Opry. Not a place called that, but the actual Opry.”

“Blue Ain’t Your Color” is the latest hit from Keith’s album “Ripcord,” which is up for a Grammy at next month’s ceremony. Even though he didn’t write the song himself, “Blue Ain’t Your Color” just felt good to Keith from the very first time he heard it.

“It felt like it was there right from the first time we went in and started playing it,” Keith adds. “It’s one of those songs that, for me, just came to life right away. This is one of those songs that just got me lyrically, melodically. I love the story it painted. I love the title, and I guess like any song I record that I didn’t write, it’s one of those songs I wished I’d written.”

The fans obviously agreed with Keith about “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” and he felt it was a hit from the moment he started performing it live.

He says, “Just the fan reaction has been so strong live and playing the song out for people who have never heard the song before, it’s always gotten a sort of immediate reaction from everybody at the end of every chorus. It’s just had that response.”

Next up, Keith is set to perform at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards airing at 8 p.m. ET Sunday, February 12, 2017 on CBS. He’s up for two trophies this year.
