Nearly everyone has heard the story.
Blake Shelton had begun to write a devastating country ballad about the death of his brother, but felt that wife Miranda Lambert could not only help him finish writing it, but also better deliver the emotional lyrics in concert.
In 2012, “Over You” was the second single released from Miranda’s album “Four the Record,” and the song went to the No. 1 spot in May of that year. It also went on to win both a CMA and ACM Award for “Song of the Year.”
It was a beautiful ending to a sad story.
Yet, when Miranda and Blake divorced in 2015, many wondered if the song would continue to have the same meaning, as it always had a pertinent place in Miranda’s set list.
No worries – it still does.
While the romantic relationship between Blake and Miranda is done, the musical products of their relationship continue to flourish, as countless fans have found comfort in the lyrics of “Over You.” In fact, Miranda performed a powerful rendition of the song on May 14 in Indiana on her recent Keeper of the Flame Tour.
